Your Accomodations at
The Lodge
Our Northwest Territories Canada Fly in fishing lodge is located right at the lakes edge. It is as cozy as you would imagine. We are a fishing lodge, so we expect you to bring your rods and equipment inside to rig and service. There is also a fishing corner with fly tying vise and materials if you want to try your creative skills or run out of that favorite fly. The entrance porch to the lodge has a customer fridge with soda pop and ice, included in your rate. We do ask that you restock it nightly with the supplied cold packs, water and drinks you prefer.
Room Style
There are 4 bedrooms with private access. Each bedroom consists of 2 single beds per room.
Lodge Layout
Our fishing lodge consists of the kitchen, sunroom, dining room and washroom.
Book Now
The heated rooms are motel row style, double occupancy, single beds, with private entrance and lake facing windows. The two bathrooms have sink, shower and flush toilets. The washrooms are detached but on the same level as the sleeping quarters.
There is a full deck along the front of the sleeping quarters connected to washrooms, so no need to touch the ground. The facilities are cleaned daily and kept spotless.
About the Suites
The sleeping quarters and bathrooms are set back 30 yards from shore to guarantee the quiet sleep you will probably need after a long day of the best northern fishing you will experience anywhere.
We have wind, solar and generator power, the generator is only used during the day, so no background noise during the night other than the loons. There is also quiet 110 power supply to charge those camera batteries.
On the subject of cameras, we have high speed internet to send those bragging photos back to work or family so bring your patch USB cord. Also if you bring a video cam please bring the firewire so I can download your trip.
Catch a monster and get on the website while you are still in camp!
Ten Reasons Why We’re Different
Privacy
We are the only people on the Lake. We only have four boats on the entire lake and river system. Imagine fishing all day and not seeing another boat.
Lake and river Fishing
With many islands just out front of the lodge and the inlet river system to provide shelter from the wind means no days sitting in the lodge waiting for better weather. The lodge is strategically placed mid point of the lake. You are 1/2 hour by boat to either end.
No Extra Billing
Put your wallet away, No scanning of your credit card. For a limited time, even your fishing license and all taxes are included in our price. The only thing you will need to bring, if you require them, are alcohol and boat snacks, ie. chips, chocolate bars etc. Your lunch and dinner will come with a home made dessert. You will also have a delicious breakfast cooked fresh for you.
No Guides Needed
At most lodges guides are compulsory, not so at Hearne. We don’t use guides because you won’t need them. Except for a shore lunch and meal of the smaller fish, we have been catch and release since our start in 1998. So the great fishing starts at the dock.
BYOB
You are more than welcome to bring your own alcohol and beverages to the lodge. We supply the fridge, ice, mix, (your preference) glass wear, etc. When you visit Hearne Lake Lodge you do not have to budget for the typical expensive bar service associated with a fly in lodge. Alcohol can be pre ordered from the Yellowknife “Liquor Shop” and depending on your order size delivered to the float plane base.
Fishing Equipment
With advance notice, we can supply all the equipment you need. Or bring your favorite reels and use our rods. We supply lite ugly sticks, spinning reels and heavier trolling rods with level-wind reels and a variety of fly rods from 3 to 8 weight.
Communication
I know you probably do not want to think about phone or wi-fi internet access while here, but we supply both free during your visit. Bring your camera patch cord, battery charger, memory stick or blank disc, for photo and video storage.
References
We will always try to give you a reference from a repeat fisher who has or will be attending the same week as you. The fishing is always great but the methods change. We will never book you into a week that does not meet your expectations. We live, eat and fish along side our guest and tell it like it is.
Lodging & Food
All meals and desserts are all home cooked and served fresh. After booking we will be contacting you to see if you have any allergies, special request or needs. Serving only 8 guest allows you to make yourself feel at home. Some of our guest feel so at home they have visited us repeatedly for over ten years!
Travel Light
When traveling with fishing rods and associated gear you may want to pack light on the clothes to prevent having to pay for extra baggage. We do not provide a public laundry, but if needed we can always run a wash for you. All you have to do is ask!
Home Cooked From
The Grill
At Hearne Lake Lodge, everything is baked in house and your fresh fruit and vegetables will be flown in with you. Great fly in fishing and delicious food will help make the trip even more memorable.
Weather permitting, we will do up a shore lunch for you at least once during your visit. We have always felt that there is nothing as tasty as a fresh shore lunch. We only keep small fish for these lunches, the big ones are always released to continue producing.
